Sr. VSAT Engineer /Manager,Kabul- Afghanistan - Responsible for performing engineering activities involving installation, operations and management of satellite, networking and wireless equipment and systems. - Conduct on site installation and testing of equipment to ensure proper operations. - Isolate equipment malfunctions and takes corrective action. - Train other local personnel in equipment operation and maintenance responsibilities - Work on complex problems. Frequently interacts with customers and/or functional peer group managers. Report to senior management involve major engineering issues - Act as the principal point of contact for entire VSAT satellite networks - Perform maintenance and troubleshoot network issues - Travel to sites to perform site surveys, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of VSAT and other wireless networks - Plan and conducts operation and maintenance training of VSAT and other wireless networks - May serve in a managerial role, and must have a highly developed capability to effectively train others - Examine existing network systems and make recommendations on improvements or optimization
Required Skills
Skills and Knowledge - Proficient with satellite network design and equipment characteristics. - Experience with satellite communications test equipment, i.e. spectrum analyzer. - Experience with the use of link budget tools and analysis interpretation. - Experience with commonly used satellite network topologies and communications platforms. - Experience with VSAT hardware including fixed site implementations, portable, and transportable solutions. - Experience with hub earth station operation and equipment chains. - Good interpersonal, and leadership skills - Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. - Ability to provide internal and external skills training. - Experience with VSAT remote equipment and satellite communications technologies - Experience interfacing with vendor NOC's, internal customers, and external Operators - Experience using network monitoring systems to proactively ensure satellite networks are available and secure. - BS Degree in Engineering plus a minimum of 3-5 years directly related work experience in Satellite communications
