Job Description
Product development engineering of low-power high-frequency radio circuitry for wireless security systems
Interact with product management, sales, marketing and customers to identify and distill RF security requirements into specifications for successful products
Design, integrate, document and release to production new RF security products, including panels, sensors, mobile communications devices, etc…
Design and integrate RF circuits, including transmitters, receivers and transceivers at various frequencies
Develop a deep understanding of the regulatory requirements for several countries they relate to the wireless products being developed.
Show flexibility by performing various engineering tasks and projects to support the team including new development, sustaining, documentation and troubleshooting
Oversee RF layout, design qualification and manufacturing implementation
Design low-cost products that operate at low current levels
Integrate existing off the shelf solutions into security specific products
Drive engineering process improvements and share design best practices throughout the engineering community
Qualifications/Requirements
BS in Engineering, Physics or Mathematics
Five or more years of professional experience in an engineering role
Demonstrated experience designing high frequency circuits (components, antennas, etc.)
Knowledge in RF systems concepts (path loss, interference, fading, intermodulation products, FEC MAC layer, protocols, etc.)
Demonstrated experience in antenna theory, modulation theory, EM theory, non-linear signal analysis, and digital transmission schemes.
Experience in the complete product development process, including design and project definition, development, testing and on-time execution
This position has minimal travel requirements (up to 10%)
Desired Characteristics
Knowledge of UL, ULC, FCC, EN, ETSI, ACA requirements
Experience with configuration and product deployment
Engineering MS degree
Experience with Six Sigma design methodology
Familiarity with systems engineering methods
RF systems experience (protocols, access methods, design of systems accounting for pathloss, interference, fading, etc.)
Working knowledge of RF tools, EM simulators, smiths chart programs, etc…
Experience with network protocols such as Zigbee, Z-wave, Bluetooth, WiFi, GSM/GPRS, CDMA, etc…
